A Getting-Started Tour for Beginners

Are you new to flight simulation? Join FlightSimExpo volunteers on a free guided tour through the exhibit hall, highlighting the best places for newcomers to get started in the hobby. You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and connect with other attendees who are just getting started.

Tours last approximately 75 minutes. Advance registration is recommended so we can keep you updated and plan for group sizes, but walk-ins are welcome day-of.

Design Your Own X-Plane Airplane & Scenery

Participate in a free hands-on workshop to learn more about content creation in X-Plane 12. No prior experience is required!

    Create a brand new airplane from scratch using X-Plane's built-in design tools. Class Tutor: Tom Kyler (Laminar Research, IXEG)

    Create an airport scenery package from scratch using X-Plane's built-in design tools. Class Tutor: Eric Xu (Laminar Research, Star Atlas)

  • Plugin VibeCoding Saturday 1:30-2:30pm

    Discover how you can vibecode your own plugins in X-Plane using native Websockets. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own laptop to code during the session. Class Tutor: Alex List (FlyShirley)

STOL Flying Workshops

Presented by National STOL

Become a STOL expert! Join National STOL, organizers of real-world short takeoff and landing (STOL) competitions, for tips and techniques for competing in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Let real world and sim STOL pilots and competitors help you prepare to compete in the FlightSimExpo National eSTOL Competition, happening throughout the weekend.

The workshop includes a 30-minute session with a STOL expert and multiple approaches in a small group environment.

  • Friday, June 12: 5-6:30pm
  • Saturday, June 13: 3-4:30pm
  • Sunday, June 14: 11:30am-1pm

Flight Training Experience

Fly with a Real Flight Instructor and Flight Intelligence

Fly MSFS or X-Plane with a real flight instructor and Bernoulli, flight intelligence software that provides feedback on real-world flight maneuvers in real time, right in the sim. Designed for prospective and student pilots.

Sessions include:
  • 3 training scenarios, flown in either MSFS or X-Plane
  • 20 minutes of simulator time
  • A 1-month subscription to Bernoulli
  • A SWAG bag, including a real pilot-style kneeboard

The 30-minute sessions are one-on-one and take place Saturday from 10am-4:30pm and Sunday from 10am-2pm. Meet at the Bernoulli booth (Booth 626).

Aviation Career Mentoring

Presented by Professional Pilots of Tomorrow

Professional Pilots of Tomorrow (PPOT) is a mentorship organization founded on the principle of providing guidance to aspiring professionals, as well as providing the resources needed to succeed in the industry. Delivered by real-world airline pilots, these small group sessions will focus on helping student pilots, high school students, and prospective airline employees learn more about fulfilling their dream of becoming an airline pilot.
