All you need to know about getting to FlightSimExpo
Hotel: Rio Las Vegas
Long considered a Las Vegas icon, the Rio Las Vegas began a total transformation in October 2023. Resort-wide improvements now include dynamic dining experiences, fully refreshed public spaces (including the pool), and a complete renovation of more than 1,400 rooms in the Ipanema Tower. Along with more than 15 full- and quick-service restaurants including a new food hall, there are four on-property shows including Penn & Teller, WOW - The Vegas Spectacular, and Comedy Cellar.
Booking via the FlightSimExpo Room Block Includes:
- A $25 credit per booked room toward food and drinks.
- Newly renovated rooms in the Ipanema Tower, with new furnishings and sleeper sofas.
- Access to beautiful ballrooms, fitness center, and pool.
- Wireless in-room internet for up to 5 devices.
- Resort fee reduced from $40 to $29, plus tax.
The Rio is located just a block from the famed Las Vegas Strip, on Flamingo Road. Free parking is available at the hotel for overnight and daily visitors, and the hotel is a quick drive, taxi, or rideshare from Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).
Check-in time is 3:00pm; check-out time is 11:00am. Guests arriving before 3:00pm will be accommodated as rooms become available at no extra charge. The hotel’s Bell Desk can assist with luggage storage as needed.
Room rates are per guestroom, per night, single or double occupancy. Each additional person will be charged at a rate of $35 per person, per night, with a maximum of four persons per guestroom.
In addition to the booking link provided on the FlightSimExpo website, hotel rooms can be booked by calling Rio Las Vegas toll free at (866) 746-7671. On the phone, guests must identify themselves as members of the FlightSimExpo group and reference the reservation number 'FS24' to be properly added to the room block.
Should you check out before the end of your reservation, sleeping rooms shall be subject to an early departure charge equal to one night’s room rate, plus applicable fees, taxes and assessments.
Guests holding reservations who are under 21 years of age should contact us so that the Rio can note this on your reservation.
When booking, a deposit of one night’s room rate will be charged to your credit card. This deposit is refundable if the reservation is canceled at least 48 hours before guest’s check-in or in accordance with the hotel’s booking conditions if there is any difference. At the time of check-in, each guest will be required to present a major credit card whose brand is accepted by Hotel, on which Hotel may place a hold in accordance with Hotel’s standard procedure or process a prepayment in the amount of the guest’s estimated charges, if prepayment has not already been made.
Plus taxes and a $29/night resort fee. For a 3-night Thursday to Sunday stay, the rate averages to $172/night, including all taxes and fees.

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) is a quick 15 minute (5 mile) drive, shuttle, or taxi/rideshare from Rio Las Vegas. The airport is served by a large variety of domestic and international carriers, including several discount airlines. Las Vegas is known as one of the least expensive places to fly to.
Rideshare
Both Lyft and Uber are available at the airport. A one-way ride is usually between $20-30, but can increase during peak times. Rideshare pick-up locations are clearly marked/signed throughout the terminal. Request your ride when you are ready to walk outside. Visit the airport website for additional details.
Taxi
Taxis are readily available at the airport. A one-way ride from the airport to Rio Las Vegas is a flat $29 rate, not including tip.
Rental Cars
Rental cars are available from a central facility located adjacent to the airport. Free shuttle service is provided to/from the rental car center.
Public Transit
Bus transit is available to the Rio, with a transfer. From the airport, take the Centennial Express Northbound route to Flamingo Road. Then, transfer to Route 202 westbound to the Rio Las Vegas. The bus stop is directly in front of the venue.

Parking
Free self-parking is available for guests of the hotel and day visitors for FlightSimExpo. The Pavilion Parking Lot is the closest self-parking to the Convention Center, where FlightSimExpo takes place. Once parked, follow signs for the Convention Center. FlightSimExpo takes place in the Pavilion Ballroom.
There are more than 15 full- and quick-service restaurants located on-site at Rio Las Vegas, with additional options conveniently located nearby.
At Rio Las Vegas
- The newly renovated Canteen Food Hall, offers a variety of quick service options, including burgers, sushi, fried chicken, sandwiches, and ramen.
- Restaurants include Guy Fieri’s El Burro Borracho, VooDoo Steak, Kang’s Kitchen, and more.
- Four bars and lounges are available to start your night right. Options are available for every kind of vibe, from casual, to sportsbook betting, to formal.
Nearby, Within Walking Distance
- Next door, Gold Coast Hotel and Casino offers a variety of options including TGI Fridays, Subway, Bowling Snack Bar, Java Vegas Coffee, Ping Pang Pong, and Noodle Exchange.
- Across the street are Chick-fil-A, Denny's, and Del Taco. A Walgreens is also available for basic groceries.
When you first arrive, a great attraction is planespotting at the airport! Tune an FM radio to 101.1, and you can hear live air traffic control conversations with aircraft taking off and landing.
Aside from aviation activities, there are plenty of fantastic day trips and getaway ideas for before and after FlightSimExpo.
